King George V of the United Kingdom reigned from 1910 to 1936 and was a significant figure during World War I and the subsequent economic crisis. He was the first monarch of the House of Windsor, which he named in 1917 to conceal his family's German heritage. His wife, Queen Mary, was a strong pillar during his reign and played a crucial role in modernizing the monarchy. In 1935, they celebrated his Silver Jubilee together.
