The Colonial Exhibition of 1883, held in Amsterdam, was a grand event showcasing the colonial trade and culture of the Kingdom of the Netherlands. Organized at the Museumplein and the nearby Paleis voor Volksvlijt, the exhibition featured products, art, and crafts from the colonies, with a strong emphasis on the Dutch East Indies.

The aim was to promote the economic potential of the colonies and inform the public about the Netherlands' colonial efforts. In addition to exhibitions, there were cultural performances and demonstrations. While the event fostered national pride, it also reflected the colonial worldview of the time, emphasizing European superiority.
