World's only plastic coins in circulation, 1,3,5,10 ruble set from breakaway pro-Russian Pridnestrovian Moldavian Republic (Priednistrovia, Transnistria, Tiraspol). The lot is for the group of 4 uncirculated pieces, one of each denomination.
1-ruble, featuring Alexander Vasilyevich Suvorov (KM# 195)
3-rubles, featuring François-Paul Sainte de Wollant (KM#205)
5-rubles, featuring Count Pyotr Alexandrovich Rumyantsev-Zadunaisky (KM#206)
10-ruble, featuring Catherine the Great (KM# 209)
Transnistria issued the world's first, and currently only, circulating plastic coins in August 2014, featuring 1, 3, 5, and 10-ruble denominations. Developed by Russia's Goznak mint, these "plamet" (plastic metal) coins are durable, colorful, and shaped differently to prevent counterfeiting. They function as legal tender within the unrecognized state.
