De V.O.C. was de eerste multinational ter wereld. Haar kapitaal werd bijeengebracht door de uitgifte van aandelen. In de 17e eeuw droeg het bij aan de ′Gouden Eeuw′ en welvaart van de Republiek. In de loop van de 18e eeuw werd het in steeds meer verliesgevend en aan 1796 ging de onderneming failliet wegens enorme schulden.

The V.O.C. was the first multinational in the world. Its capital was raised by issuing shares. In the 17th century it contributed to the Dutch ′Golden Age′ and prosperity of the Republic. Over the course of the 18th century it became increasingly loss-making and in 1796 the company went bankrupt due to enormous debts. variant het lofwerk rond het V.O.C. embleem raak de F in FOE.
Minieme muntplaatoneffenheden op de voorzijde en lichte zwakte van de slag,
doch weinig gecirculeerd exemplaar met veel stempelglans. Minor planchet faults on the obverse and some weakness of strike,
otherwise attractive specimen with much original lustre. Rare.
