Historical Context
Struck in 1923, this commemorative medal celebrates the 25th anniversary of Queen Wilhelmina’s reign. She officially began her rule in 1898 upon reaching maturity. The obverse was engraved by François Carbasius, while the reverse with its richly symbolic orange tree and provincial arms was designed by prominent medallist C.J. van der Hoef. The piece reflects Dutch national unity and monarchical continuity during the interwar period.
