Everyone who thinks of Willemstad in Curacao immediately imagines the colorful buildings of St. Anna's Bay. In fact, Willemstad is known for the colorful "Dutch" architecture, but when you get to know the city a little better, you will discover the Spanish and Portuguese influences. This mix of different cultures and influences led to several of the city's districts being declared World Heritage Sites by UNESCO in 1997. This is also the reason why the Royal Netherlands Mint, on behalf of the Ministry of Finance, will mint a commemorative coin: the Willemstad 5 euro coin.
