The Kuinderburcht Bridge was best known for the swampy terrain in the area. That is why the lords lived manfully from hunting and fishing. The hunting area shrank considerably over the years, leading the lords to focus their attention on collecting tolls from ships in the Zuiderzee (the South Sea). The lords of Kuinre then began to control several trade routes that would pass through the Kuinder, Vecht and IJssel rivers. Since 2020, many places in the bridge area have special transparent panels with drawings. This makes it possible for people to see an object or event that took place in the past and is no longer visible. As written in the Dutch Mint Law, a Silver Duchy must represent a knight in armor with a shield displaying the provincial weapon in front of his left leg. Godard de Ginkell (1644 –1703) wears the knight's armor in all the silver ducats of the “Dutch Castles” series. The historical knight is known in the Netherlands as Godard van Reede, but in the United Kingdom he is called Godard de Ginkell thanks to his military service there.
