Reverse: a Latin memorial inscription in 10 lines (Translated as Faithful to God, the Emperor, and the Roman Empire, steadfast and magnanimous, having restored public peace after many triumphs, and leaving behind successors like himself, the most fortunate Father of the Fatherland died blessed).

RARE in high grade and Top Population per NGC census so-called "Death Taler" of the Johann Georg I, 1656. Dresden Mint. Really handsome and historically significant commemorative taler issued upon the death of the Elector. The obverse presents an imposing, richly retaliated portrait of the Johann Georg I in ceremonial robes, holding the electoral sword, surrounded by extensive Latin legends. The reverse feature a ten-line memorial inscription praising his loyalty, magnanimity, and service to the Holy Roman Empire. An exceptionally well-preserved example displaying deep charcoal-gray toning, contrasting silver highlights, and impressive definition throughout the portrait and intricate costume. The bold central devices and attractive patina lend the piece remarkable visual depth and character. A desirable high-grade survivor of Saxon Baroque commemorative coinage!
