On the obverse, the banknote features the Reserve Bank of Malawi headquarters building in Lilongwe, as well as a portrait of Rose Lomathinda Chibambo. The inscriptions include the promise to pay the bearer on demand the sum of 200 kwacha, the name of the Reserve Bank of Malawi, the mention of the issue under the Malawian banking law, the face value "200 kwacha" and the name of Rose Lomathinda Chibambo. The script is in the Latin alphabet.
On the reverse, the banknote depicts the new Parliament building in Lilongwe, along with the name of the Reserve Bank of Malawi.
The watermark embedded in the banknote depicts Rose Lomathinda Chibambo as well as the electrotype denomination "200".
