This 2 dollar coin was issued in 2020 by the island of Niue, a territory associated with New Zealand known for its thematic numismatic issues. It is struck in 999 fine silver, weighing one troy ounce, or 31.1 grams, with a diameter of 40 millimetres.

The coin is produced in Proof quality (PR), a striking process characterised by carefully crafted relief on a mirror background, achieved through multiple successive strikes on polished blanks. This technique gives the coin a particularly precise and contrasted finish.

Its obverse features two iconic characters from the Disney universe: Mickey Mouse and his faithful dog Pluto, depicted in a colourised composition. The application of colour directly onto the metal is carried out using a specific printing process that enhances the graphic details of the design. The reverse of the coin bears the institutional inscriptions related to the island of Niue, including the face value of 2 dollars and the effigy of Queen Elizabeth II, the reference sovereign for Niuean issues of this period.

The mintage of this issue is strictly limited to 1,930 pieces, making it a coin with restricted distribution. Each piece is accompanied by its official case and a certificate of authenticity, guaranteeing the provenance and technical characteristics of the strike.

This issue is part of the series of collaborations between the Niue mint and Disney rights holders, whose animated-themed numismatic productions enjoy recognition among collectors specialising in this field.
