The 1 Franc Sower coin, minted in 1973, is a divisional coin of the French Republic. It is made of nickel and weighs 6 grams. Its diameter is 24 millimeters.
The obverse of the coin features the sower motif, an emblematic allegorical figure of the French Republic. This representation, created by Louis-Oscar Roty, shows a woman sowing seeds, symbolizing prosperity and abundance. The legend "REPUBLIQUE FRANÇAISE" is inscribed in an arc above the sower. The signature "O. Roty" also appears on this side.
The reverse of the coin features an olive branch, a symbol of peace and fraternity, placed under the face value of "1 FRANC". The republican motto "LIBERTE • EGALITE • FRATERNITE" surrounds the composition. The year of issue, "1973", is indicated at the bottom of the coin. The engraver, Louis-Oscar Roty, is also credited for the design of this face.
This coin comes from a mint set, which gives it a BU (Brilliant Uncirculated) condition, attesting to its quality of strike and optimal preservation. The mintage of this coin is not specified.
