Botswana – 1978 – 150 Pula – Brown Hyena – WWF Conservation Series – Gold – Proof – NGC PF69 Ultra Cameo – Cert 8583191-003

The 150 Pula coin from Botswana is considered one of the classic modern gold rarities from Africa, particularly within the Conservation Series in the context of wildlife and WWF conservation. Crucially, it is a proof coin, as it was issued in a very limited mintage of only 219 pieces, making it exceptionally rare and highly sought after in good condition.

The obverse of the coin features the brown hyena (Hyaena brunnea), while the reverse displays the coat of arms of Botswana with the motto IPELEGENG. Thus, the coin combines not only a striking animal motif with high recognition value, but also clear national symbolism, which is often a key criterion in thematic collections on Africa and nature conservation series.

This coin is graded PF69 Ultra Cameo by NGC. This means its visual effect is typical of high-quality proof coins, with a distinct cameo contrast between reflective fields and frosted reliefs. Furthermore, the NGC certification ensures clear market acceptance and a permanently verifiable assessment of its condition.
