Extremely rare.

In February 1848 the reign of Louis-Philippe came to an end and the Second Republic was proclaimed. In Lyon the silk weavers, the canuts, took the city hall and the prefecture on 24 February. Among them were the Voraces, a weavers society formed in 1846 in the Croix-Rousse quarter. Their name probably goes back to the dévoirants, the Compagnons du Devoir. From February 1848 until June 1849 they occupied several seats of power and strategic places in the city, alongside the regular authorities. This die honours the members of the provisional committee of Lyon for the period from 25 February to 6 June 1848. In June 1849 the Voraces attempted a new rising, aimed at prince-president Louis-Napoleon Bonaparte. It was put down harshly and ended the society.

Dealing came much later, and even though it is how I make my living now, I still enjoy looking at every piece the way a collector does.

Every shipment goes out registered with track & trace, and I pack everything myself. If something goes wrong along the way, I cover the cost. That risk is mine, not yours.

I ship on two fixed days a week, Monday and Thursday. The track & trace is added to your order so you can follow your parcel online.

Practical

For payments within Europe I recommend an IBAN transfer (SEPA), which saves you the extra costs of third parties.
