Historical Context: Louis Joseph Seutin (1793–1862) was a Belgian military surgeon and professor of medicine, best known for developing the "amovo-inamovible" method — a hybrid approach to fracture treatment using both removable and immovable bandaging. His technique, introduced in the early 19th century, was widely adopted in both civilian and military contexts. Seutin served as Surgeon-General of the Belgian Army and was a founding figure of modern Belgian medicine. This medal, struck in 1852 by renowned medallist Léopold Wiener, honors his contribution to medical science and humanitarian care.
