This bronze medal was created by the French medallist Montagny as a commercial promotional piece for Rob. Boyveau-Laffecteur, a Parisian pharmacist and medical entrepreneur. The reverse highlights his official authorisation by the Belgian government and approval by the Royal Academy of Medicine of Belgium, meant to give his products scientific and state-backed credibility. Such medals were part of 19th-century marketing strategies, often distributed to clients or displayed as a sign of reliability.
