This French banknote, dated March 5, 1959, has a face value of 50 new francs, corresponding to 5000 francs of the old monetary system. It belongs to the T.98 series.

The front of the banknote features a portrait of Henri IV in the center, with a view of the Pont-Neuf in the background. The coat of arms of Paris is positioned on the left, while that of Béarn is on the right. The inscriptions include the mention "BANQUE DE FRANCE" as well as the face value expressed in new francs and old francs. André Marliat is credited as engraver, and Jean Lefeuvre as designer.

On the back, there is again a portrait of Henri IV, this time accompanied by a representation of the Château de Pau on the right and a panoramic view of the Pyrenees on the left. The inscriptions reproduce the mention "BANQUE DE FRANCE" and a legal warning concerning the penalties incurred for counterfeiting or falsifying banknotes. Georges Léon Égalité Beltrand is designated as engraver, while Jean Lefeuvre is once again credited as designer.

The banknote's watermark represents the head of Marie de Medici in three-quarter view. Its dimensions are 160 mm long by 85 mm wide.
